If your home is not properly configured with adequate grounding, then we may need to rectify this problem before we can install your new charging unit.

What types of electric vehicle chargers are compatible with the electrical systems commonly found in homes in the GTA?
Typically, you’ll find both Level 1 and Level 2 charging in homes. Level 1 charging is basically a fancy way of saying “plugging your car into a standard wall outlet.” This 120-volt AC charging is generally the slowest and the least reliable, and therefore, we generally don’t recommend it unless you drive very little on an average day. Level 2 charging uses a 240-volt connection to charge at a much faster rate and is far superior for commuters and those who regularly drive a good distance.

Are there any local incentives or rebates available for installing a home electric vehicle charger in St. Catharines?
At the moment, there is no incentive program for EV charging station installation through the Ontario government, but there may be incentives through the Government of Canada. The Government of Canada is also offering a discount of up to $5,000 for the purchase or lease of a zero-emissions vehicle. That discount may significantly discount or even fully cover the cost of purchasing and installing an at-home EV charger.

What are the typical costs associated with purchasing and installing a home EV charger?
Installation costs can vary greatly, so it’s impossible to provide an accurate estimate online. Never attempt to charge multiple vehicles at the same time on a charger that is not designed to do so! Doing so is incredibly dangerous and could damage both your vehicles and the charging unit itself.
